Good Luck Time - Chapter 1

[Chapter 1]
One day when he was twenty-one years old, Tao Sizhi opened a movie on his computer before playing the newly downloaded mobile game of love management.
During the game dialogue, he heard the hero of the movie say “If there are four seasons in life, spring is until I turn 40”.
He looked up thoughtfully, and also began to learn to divide his life in this way: there may be no seasons before the age of seventeen, spring at the age of eighteen, severe cold at the age of nineteen, and only autumn after that.
At the age of 24, Tao Sizhi graduated from U University’s School of Computer Science as a graduate student.
As in the previous ten years, the main tone of Tao Sizhi’s university life is still loner and no social interaction.
Because he didn’t want to live with others, Tao Sizhi chose day school and had fewer opportunities to meet classmates than in high school. When taking a group photo after graduation, Tao Sizhi didn’t even remember the names of his classmates.
If Tao Sizhi were to count his achievements in college and graduate school, in addition to the subject knowledge and high grade points he had acquired, there might only be many cards in the mobile game of love.
But he didn’t care much because he only cared about that.
In the autumn, Tao Sizhi participated in the school recruitment and was accepted by Ernst & Young Group, the largest Internet company in the city. In February of the following year, he went to work under the frigid wind.
Unlike U, which is only two stops away from home, Ernst & Young’s campus is located in the High-tech Zone, far from Tao Sizhi’s home. Every morning on a working day, Tao Sizhi had to get up before 6:30, transfer to the subway three times, and walk for another 20 minutes before arriving on time.
Parents and elder brother felt that Tao Sizhi was too hard to commute by car, saying that he had never suffered such hardship before, and began to urge him to learn to drive.
Tao Sizhi didn’t want to learn, and often pretended to be thinking or didn’t hear.
A week later, Tao Sizhi was visibly thinner. The family began to discuss again, wanting to rent or buy a small house for him next to the company. However, there are very few real estate near the park, and suitable houses are not easy to find.
Tao Sizhi felt that it was very troublesome to see the house, and it was very rushing. After several times of cooperation to no avail, he began to passively resist.
Fortunately, in the third month of Tao Sizhi’s commute from the city center to the suburbs, the company suddenly released a new welfare policy, preparing to provide dormitories for new employees in need.
The logistics department has a high execution efficiency. Not long after the notice was released, Xiao Li, who was in charge of contacting the technical department, took the form to inquire about his intentions.
Tao Sizhi was not interested in this benefit at first. He was staring at the program being debugged and said to Xiao Li without raising his head, “I can’t live.”
Xiao Li was a procrastinator. Strangely, he asked him, “Why don’t you live? The conditions are very good.”
Tao Sizhi finally raised his head and said to her, “I don’t like living with people.”
Li Xiao immediately told him, “Did you not look inside? It was notified on the Internet that these dormitories are single rooms, so if you miss them, there will be no more.” She grabbed a pen in her hand and asked Tao Sizhi again, “Can’t you live in a single room?
” His eyes moved back to the screen.
Li Xiao nodded, checked the form, and walked to another workstation.
Tao Sizhi continued to concentrate on completing his work, opened his cloud document form, and filled in the diary in the blank space after the date of August 2: “I will live in the single-person dormitory provided by the company soon.”
He announced in the family group, “I am I’m going to stay in a dormitory”, and caused an uproar.
A week later, Tao Sizhi moved into the park.
Because of a lot of luggage, his brother Tao Siyuan drove him to work. His mother also wanted to come, but his brother refused on the grounds that “I still have to go to work and I don’t have time to take you home”.
The road to work on Monday was a bit congested. While driving, his brother rambled about the precautions for living alone.
Tao Sizhi didn’t listen carefully, because he was busy playing games and doing his daily routine, and he could guess what his brother said with his eyes closed.
It must still be said last night that “you must go home once a week”, “don’t play the game too late”, “you have time to interact with people”, “but you must tell me before deep contact”.
When he was about to arrive at the park, Tao Sizhi had accumulated enough points for ten consecutive draws, and immediately put his mobile phone in front of his brother: “Brother, help me draw.”
His brother sighed for some reason and clicked.
Tao Siyuan was very lucky that day, and got an SSR that Tao Sizhi didn’t have.
Tao Sizhi hadn’t drawn the card he wanted for several weeks. He was so happy that he agreed to Tao Siyuan’s unreasonable request to learn to drive next year. After Tao Siyuan finished moving things for him, he gave him a spare key to the dormitory.
The company’s single-person dormitory perfectly meets all Tao Sizhi’s requirements for a house.
The space is small, there is a private bathroom, the Internet is fast, the bed is comfortable, and there is a cleaning service for door-to-door collection and laundry.
After moving into the dormitory, Tao Sizhi stayed at the company forever, except when he was ordered to go home by his parents and older brother on weekends and holidays when he was not busy.
It didn’t take long for Xiao Tao, a fresh graduate from District B, to become famous in the entire program department.
The three-point and one-line life of dormitory, work station, and canteen made Tao Sizhi feel like a duck to water and very comfortable. At one point he felt that the autumn of his life was coming to an end and that the spring was coming back.
Tao Sizhi also considered that if he was forced to move out in the future and wanted to buy a house, he would use this dormitory as a template.
After obvious hard work, by the end of the year, Tao Sizhi was awarded the Outstanding Award for New Staff.
The boss called him and another award-winning colleague, Xiao Zhao, to the office, congratulated them in advance, and gave them tickets to the company’s annual meeting, saying, “This is not an honor that every outstanding award winner can have.”
Seeing the word “annual meeting”, Tao Sizhi only thought “there must be a lot of people”. He was more afraid of crowds and hesitantly wanted to refuse.
The boss knew his character and saw what he meant, and suddenly began to instill in him the philosophy of life, “Young people should have more contact with the society”, “Now is not an era that only depends on ability” and so on.
Tao Sizhi began to lose his mind, and suddenly caught his attention by the sentence “And the winning rate of this year’s annual meeting is the highest in history, if you miss it, it will be gone”.
Tao Sizhi has one shortcoming, he can’t resist almost all lottery activities. Therefore, at the end of the conversation, he not only took over the tickets for the annual meeting, but also said “thank you” to his boss.
On the Friday of the third week after New Year’s Eve, the group’s annual meeting was held in the top-floor banquet hall of a luxury hotel next to the park.
The banquet hall is very large. There are 70 or 80 round tables in the hall. There is a stage in front of it. There are two huge electronic display screens on each side of the stage, which broadcast the scene on the stage in real time.
After the chairman and president delivered speeches, the dinner began.
Most of the round tables were in high spirits and staggered, and a few were very quiet.
Most of the quiet desks were filled with socially inept employees such as Li Xiao and Tao Sizhi from the logistics department.
The people in the row of seats thoughtfully placed them in unobserved corners, so that they could eat quietly undisturbed and concentrate on waiting for the draw.
Before the lottery began, there were still several performances. Tao Sizhi happened to be sitting next to the stereo, his ears hurt from the music, and he felt very stuffy, so he told his colleagues and planned to go outside the banquet hall.
There were many people outside the hall, gathering in twos and threes to chat. Tao Sizhi leaned against the marble pillar, looked down at the gray and red floor under his feet, and was stunned.
Not long after, the alarm on his mobile phone rang, reminding him that it was nine o’clock in the evening, and it was time to do the game routine, so he took out his mobile phone, opened the software, and played the game seriously. After a while, he suddenly heard someone calling him: “Tao Sizhi.”
“Tao Sizhi.”
This voice Tao Sizhi recognized. When he had just graduated from high school, it often suddenly rang in his ears inexplicably, making him feel a little annoying.
The sound was sometimes in the cafeteria, sometimes in the playground, sometimes in his house, downstairs at dusk. Tao Sizhi didn’t know the reason for the sound, but every time he heard it, he never found the source of the sound.
In recent years, he has rarely heard it anymore, so at the beginning of the day, Tao Sizhi didn’t take it seriously, and didn’t look up until the voice got closer and closer to him, making him suspect that this time it was not a hallucination.
Then, he saw a pair of leather shoes. The leather shoes were black and polished, on the gray-red carpet. Then he heard: “Tao Sizhi.”
He had to slowly raise his head and saw the person who called him.
This man was almost a head taller than him, wearing a black, crisp suit with short hair, staring at Tao Sizhi, holding a glass of wine in his hand.
Except for a little bit of maturity, Jiang Ge’s appearance has hardly changed at all. However, the domineering and mocking that Tao Sizhi was familiar with that was once undisguised in his eyes was gone.
“Why don’t you talk,” he said, “Can’t you recognize me?”
Tao Sizhi said, “Recognize me.”
Jiang Ge smiled naturally. He looked into Tao Sizhi’s eyes, as if he was very close to Tao Sizhi, but also far away. .
In fact, Tao Sizhi felt that he might not recognize him anymore.
In the more than seven years of separation, Jiang Ge has become a stable and decent adult that Tao Sizhi will never become, and politely said to Tao Sizhi, “Long time no see.” And Tao Sizhi is still the same as before.
The surrounding sound was very noisy, an environment that Tao Sizhi didn’t like. He felt uncomfortable and wanted to go to a quieter place, so he looked around and returned Jiang Ge vaguely: “Well… see.”
Jiang Ge didn’t care . He slurred his words, with a smile in his voice: “Tao Sizhi, you haven’t changed.”
Tao Sizhi didn’t find a place with few people, and he didn’t know what to say. He looked at Jiang Ge again, and made a single sound from his nose.
Jiang Ge is handsome and has a good image. Many girls outside the hall are looking at him, very different from Tao Sizhi.
Tao Sizhi noticed out of the corner of his eye that his mobile phone screen was dark, so he took his eyes away from Jiang Ge, lowered his head, and tapped the screen with his right thumb to make the game interface light up again.
“Are you playing games again?” Jiang Ge took a step and got closer to Tao Sizhi, “Is it the same as before?”
Tao Sizhi smelled the wine, lowered his head and said, “No.”
Then, he soon heard Jiang Ge continued to ask: “Do you want to draw cards in the current game?”
He was a little uneasy, nodded as an answer, and finally took a small step to the side, his shoulders touched the marble pillar, the
marble was a little icy, and Tao Sizhi stuck it very well. Press hard, as if being pressed against a pillar by an invisible hand. He also felt uncomfortable, but since he had not finished his daily routine, he continued to play games in a strange posture.
Jiang Ge watched silently for about 30 seconds, and then asked Tao Sizhi, “Do you want me to draw cards for you?”
At this time, Tao Sizhi had finished his daily routine and had to go back to wait for the lottery at the annual meeting. He pressed the lock screen, muttered “No”, turned around and walked towards the hall of the annual meeting. He walked faster than usual, and he didn’t know why.
When approaching the gate, Jiang Ge called his name behind him. He had to stop and look back.
He saw Jiang Ge standing three meters away from him, bowed his head slightly, and smiled at himself reluctantly.
The reason why I say reluctance is because the curvature of the corner of Jiang Ge’s mouth is very unnatural, and his eyes are a little dodgy. Jiang Ge lowered his voice and asked Tao Sizhi, “Can you release me from the mobile phone blacklist?”
Tao Sizhi looked at him, thought about it, and asked him, “What blacklist?”
“You are not on my blacklist. “Tao Sizhi said.
Jiang Ge was stunned for a while, and the little smile in his eyes disappeared.
Tao Sizhi saw Jiang Ge’s expression and felt that Jiang Ge seemed to have a lot to say, so he did not leave immediately.
However, after waiting for a while, Jiang Ge didn’t speak, Tao Sizhi was concerned about the lottery again, and without the patience to wait, he turned around again and left.
Jiang Ge didn’t stop him and didn’t follow, which made him a little relieved.
He hurried to his seat and sat next to a colleague who was just as inarticulate as he was. After a few seconds, his mobile phone lit up, and Jiang Ge sent him a text message: “I joined the company the year before last, but this year I was transferred back to the headquarters, in the business department.”
Tao Sizhi locked the screen after reading.
In fact, pulling up the message bar, you can see that in the past two years, during the festivals, he has received some blessing text messages from Jiang Ge.
Tao Sizhi didn’t like to reply to other people’s text messages, and never did.
The author has something to say: a somewhat boring youth love story! Hope you all have a great summer!
